Developing EAL provision in Primary schools

For the senior leadership team (SLT), English as an Additional Language (EAL) coordinators and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) with responsibility for Primary EAL to gain expertise, confidence and the resources to develop excellent provision for English as an Additional Language pupils in their school.

Developing EAL provision in Secondary schools

For the senior leadership team (SLT), English as an Additional Language (EAL) coordinators, teachers, SENCOs, Inclusion Leads and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) with responsibility for EAL to gain expertise, confidence and the resources to develop best practice, evidence-based provision for English as an Additional Language pupils in their school.

  • Length: 3 sessions per term
  • Venue: TEAMS
  • Cost: Fully funded

Distinguishing the difference between EAL and SEN

This face-to-face course will support delegates to ensure best practice for English as an Additional Language (EAL) pupils and their families in relation to Special Educational Needs (SEN), and will include how to distinguish between EAL and SEN difficulties and explore a range of assessment materials.

EAL Early Years Network

Three twilight sessions for Early Years practitioners working with English as an Additional Language (EAL) children and families, which will provide a useful forum to gain updates on EAL pedagogy, policy, opportunities, resources etc. and share expertise and experience.

Introduction to EAL for Primary Teaching Assistants

This training is designed for teaching assistants (TAs) working throughout the primary phase (including YR) and will focus on developing a toolkit of practical classroom-based strategies which support the achievement of pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL).

  • Length: 2 sessions (2-hour afternoon session plus 1 full-day session)
  • Venue: Online (2-hr), and a Norwich venue - TBC (full day)
  • Cost: Fully funded
