Keeping your School Information on the "Get Information about Schools (GIAS)" website up to date

Over the six week break many schools may have made changes to their establishment details or governance arrangements. It is vital that all education settings keep their Get Information About Schools (GIAS) record up to date. 

Even if you feel there are no changes necessary, it is always a good idea to check your page to ensure that your school information is accurate. 

GIAS must be updated whenever any of the fields associated with your records have changed, or it has been agreed that there will be a change in your establishment that will affect information in your record. Examples of changes are: 

  • a new headteacher or principal is appointed 
  • changes in the establishments age range 
  • if the establishment (maintained schools only) is leaving or joining a federation 
  • changes to trusts, academies and free schools  
  • when a new governance role is appointed or one ends. 

All Schools should have a login for their page on GIAS where they are able to make changes.  However, if you cannot find this information, please visit this webpage:
