Road Safety In Schools: 'Eyes Up, Slow Down, Cross Safely' Campaign

For Staff

THINK! has launched a new campaign to help parents prepare their children for independent travel, especially when transitioning to secondary school.

The 'Eyes Up, Slow Down, Cross Safely' campaign is designed to educate both children and parents about the importance of road safety. By incorporating this campaign into your curriculum and extracurricular activities, your school can play a significant role in ensuring the safety of your students on the roads. This campaign encourages parents to:

  • Practice the journey to school with their children.
  • Role model best practice behaviour (e.g., putting away their phone while crossing the road)
  • Have a conversation on road safety as part of their preparation for changing schools.

To learn more about the 'Eyes Up, Slow Down, Cross Safely' campaign and how your school can get involved, your school can access a variety of road safety teaching resources for children by visiting the Education resources section on the THINK! website. These resources are designed to engage students and make learning about road safety fun and informative.

Norfolk County Councils Road Safety Team also offer many funded road safety resources, school campaigns, education, and training courses to help develop independent and safe road behaviours.
