Road Safety Magic Show - Years 3 & 4

Empower your Year 3 & 4 pupils with the knowledge needed to stay safe when walking, wheeling, and cycling

For Staff

Norfolk County Councils Road Safety Team have commissioned 70 fully funded shows from Olly Day to deliver important messages to build on previous learning and prepare pupils to be safe and independent when travelling in their communities.

Performances are approx. 50 minutes

What will pupils learn about?

  • The Green Cross Code and the Highway Code
  • Road Signs and Road Markings
  • Emergency vehicles
  • Finding Safe Places to Cross the Road
  • Choosing mode of transport (hierarchy of road users)
  • The importance of being bright and being seen
  • Bike Safety
  • Passenger Safety, Seatbelts
  • Maintaining focus and being alert

This is a positive and effective road safety intervention; schools have told us that:

  • "Magic is a great way to hook pupils' attention about something that is really important"
  • "In class afterwards following on from points that had arisen, the children led a great discussion about car safety and talked about car seats and seatbelts."
  • "The important messages were given with humour which will help to make them stick."
  • "The children are still talking about it and the messages were so important."
  • "The children loved the show and parents have commented that they went home talking about it."
  • "Clear messages about safety and practical hands-on examples of why it is important to be safe on the road."
