Safer Journeys Ahead Road Safety Teacher Training
Creative, flexible, inclusive, and engaging Road Safety education opportunities for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

Norfolk County Council Road Safety Team is excited to announce the introduction of our enhanced and nationally recognised Safer Journeys Ahead programme for 2024 - 2025.

We have a limited number of spaces available so be quick to sign up to this programme during September 2024 - July 2025 academic year.
If you are a Head teacher, Teacher, Teaching Assistant, Governor or In School Road Safety Lead, and you would like to:
- introduce road safety skills to build confidence, resilience, independence across children to help them Flourish.
- instil a positive Road Safety culture across your school and within your curriculum and PSHE requirements.
- benefit from access to fun, engaging and creative ways of including Road Safety. messages to your EYFS & KS1 pupils, without straying from the National Curriculum.
- engage parents and your local community to encourage a positive school gate environment.
To start your journey on this programme or to find out more, register on one of our virtual TEAMS sessions - Safer Journeys Ahead 24-25
Introduction sessions will run on:
- Tuesday 17 September at 3:30pm - 4:30pm
- Wednesday 18 September at 3:30pm - 4:30pm
We expect interest to be high for this opportunity and spaces on each session are limited.
All schools that register following the introduction session will receive further information and coaching to support you to implement this simple intervention across your school.
Schools who sign up for and deliver Safer Journeys Ahead Teacher Training via Norfolk County Council Road Safety Team will receive a road safety educators pack (value of £100) to support you on your journey.
To receive this education pack your school must sign up to the programme and pledge to deliver the key components of the intervention for at least one full term including a final feedback questionnaire.
Once we have received your first set of data you will receive the pack.
It is our aim to encourage bike lights as means of improving rider visibility and to promote their use when undertaking journeys both during the day and at night.
