First aid for school trips
Norfolk schools may use any competent trainer for first aid training.
It's worth consulting providers about the syllabus they provide and ensuring that it fulfils the needs of the individual school.
First aid training provision for educational visits
For educational visits, the adequate level of First Aid provision that is normally needed is as follows:
- For residential or visits abroad a First Aid at Work certificate or equivalent (18 hours)
- For working outdoors it is recommended to attend the REC (Rescue and Emergency Care) training (12 hours), available from Whitlingham Adventure (opens new window)
- For day visits a one-day Emergency First Aid certificate or equivalent (6 hours)
- For those working with under fives, a 12 hour Paediatric First Aid course
For further guidance, see the national guidance for off-site activities and visits available from the OEAP website (opens new window).
