Norfolk fair access protocol
All local authorities must have a fair access protocol, which is agreed with the majority of schools in its area.
The protocol:
- Aims to ensure that children who have not been able to secure a school place during the school year, are offered a place at a suitable school as quickly as possible
- Must ensure that no school – including those with available places – is asked to take a disproportionate number of children:
- who have been excluded from other schools
- who have challenging behaviour
All schools and academies are legally required to take part in their local authority’s fair access protocol.
Norfolk’s fair access protocol also includes provisions relating to the managed moves scheme and attendance trials.
