Unaccompanied asylum seeker children (UASC) and refugee children

Norwich is a 'City of Sanctuary' for refugees, asylum seekers and people from abroad, and a number of Norfolk's schools have 'School of Sanctuary' status. Norwich is also a dispersal centre for asylum seeker individuals and families. Unaccompanied asylum seeker children (UASC) are also welcomed into Norfolk.

  • Unaccompanied asylum seeker children (UASC) are usually between the age of 13 and 16 years old and can be placed into care and education anywhere in Norfolk. As children in care they come within the remit of the Virtual School for Children in Care
