Update on the Support staff pay offer

FAO: Headteachers, School Leaders and School Business Managers , 9 September 2024 10:52
Information

Following on from the National Employers full and final pay offer for colleagues covered by the Local Government Services (Green book) 2024-25, UNISON and Unite Trade Unions are balloting members on industrial action while GMB has accepted it.

Norfolk is not on the list of Councils Unite is balloting in, so it will just be Unison balloting members in Norfolk which will include support staff in schools.  Unison's ballot is running from the 4 September to the 15 October 2024.

The full and final pay offer is from 1 April 2024 and would mean...

  • An increase of £1,290 (pro rata for part-time employees) to be paid as a consolidated, permanent addition to all NJC pay points 2 to 43 inclusive.  This equates to a pay increase of 5.77 per cent for employees on pay point 2 and everyone on the NJC pay spine would receive a minimum 2.50 per cent pay increase.
  • An increase of 2.50 per cent on all pay points above the maximum of the pay spine but graded below deputy chief officer.
  • An increase of 2.50 per cent on all allowances.

The view of the national employers is that this offer is fair to employees given the wider economic backdrop and the additional pressure this year's offer will place on already hard-pressed school finances.

We will update you again once Unison shares the results of its ballots which is likely to be late October.
