SEN Information Report (SIR) quality audit 2025
During the autumn term, we carried out our annual check that all Norfolk settings have published an up-to-date SEN Information Report on their website. This audit involves a search of all settings' websites to find their published SEN Information Report and check the date of last review or update.
During January and February 2025 there will be a quality audit of a small sample of SEN Information Reports. For this, a random selection of approximately 20 SEN Information Reports from a range of educational settings will be audited in detail.
The audits will be conducted by small groups of SEND professionals, co-ordinated by the SEND Local Offer team. Each group will include a representative from the Inclusion and SEND team working with representatives from:
- Family Voice Norfolk
- Norfolk SENDIASS
- School and Community Teams
- Children's Services Participation Team
SIRs provide key information for parents and carers about how a setting implements their SEND policy. We are grateful to all educational settings for their work to make sure that the Regulatory information is written to be easy to read and understood for parents and carers who have a child with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
We hope these audits will continue to evidence the continued improvement of SEN Information Reports in Norfolk.
New for 2025
As an action from the Local Area Inclusion Plan (LAIP), we will be piloting gathering the voice of children and young people with SEND and their parents/carers about how they experience SEN Support.
In the second half of the Spring term, we will approach four schools to work with to learn how the SEN Information Report works in practice. These will be selected from the schools sampled for SEN Information Report quality audits
The approach will involve trying out different methods of engagement to find out what works best, for example:
- talking to pupils individually/in groups;
- talking to parents/carers individually/in groups; and/or
- using a survey to gain views.
The aim is to identify good practice that can be shared more widely.
If your school would like to be sampled as part of the SEN Information Report quality audit, please contact claire.jones2@norfolk.gov.uk
Please note: our initial audit has revealed several settings' websites have expired SSL certificates which can then block access to a website for security reasons. Please ensure this certificate is renewed so your website is accessible and secure.
