SEND advisers re-alignment across zones
Our SEND and Inclusion support model will be rolled out in full this year to make sure you have the support, resources, and expertise you need to support children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
The model focuses on providing early help and intervention and wrap around support for mainstream schools within the 15 zones. Its aim is to support a consistent level of SEN Support across the county to improve inclusion.
To prepare for this rollout, from this month (January) the council's SEND advisers will be realigned with the new zones. Previously they were aligned to school and trusts, but they will now be aligned to a zone and will work closely with the schools in that zone. This may mean you have a new SEND adviser, who will support you with referrals to the SEND and Inclusion Support Line and other aspects of the SEND and Inclusion Model.
King's Lynn and West Norfolk Central, East and North and Norwich North are the first two zones to go live in Phase One of the rollout. The first Zone Inclusion Partnership (ZIP) meetings have already happened and are shortly to be followed by Team Around the School (TAS) meetings this term.
The roll out plan for subsequent zones will be published shortly, with further explanation on what to expect during the phased roll out.
The SEND and Inclusion Model is one of seven key projects within the council's Local First Inclusion programme (The Local First Inclusion programme - Norfolk Schools and Learning Providers - Norfolk County Council), which is aiming to transform education for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) in early years, mainstream schools and academies and further education colleges.
