EAL Grammar and Writing

First language can affect the grammar and structure of EAL children and young people's writing. The EAL team would like to pilot an intervention scheme based on assessment of writing to identify areas of weaknesses related to first language interference and a 6-week intervention to address identified issues. Assessment and delivery of interventions would be carried out in school by EAL advisors.

Expressions of interest from schools who would be interested in participating in the pilot scheme are very much welcomed by 31st January 2025.

Who is this for?

This pilot scheme is suitable for Year 5 and 6 classes/year groups with more than 6 pupils with EAL. The intervention group of 4-6 pupils will be chosen through assessment of writing samples.
