Information

Do any of these statements sound familiar ?

"We have parking issues and road safety concerns outside the school at the beginning and end of every day."

"To improve the air quality outside our school, it would be good to try and  reduce the number of vehicles outside the school."

"We receive complaints on a regular basis about inconsiderate parking and road safety behaviour outside the school?"

"It would be great to see more students, parents/carers, school staff actively travelling to school."

The "Safe School Run Pledge" has been adapted so secondary schools and colleges can now take part.

The aim of the 'Safe School Run Pledge' is to promote safe travelling and parking behaviours across educational settings.

Would you like to work towards encouraging safer parking behaviours and help students to feel safe, resilient & confident when travelling to their educational setting?

We also have an opportunity to borrow our Air Quality Monitor to help you to measure air quality before and after you use the Safe School Run Resources Pack to understand the impact you are making.

The safe school run pledge is an effective strategy to support with:

  1. Tackling parking challenges and promoting responsible parking.
  2. Encourage more cycling, walking, and wheeling by empowering students/families who can; to either leave their car at home or park further away from the school gates.
  3. Improving the local environment for educational settings with air quality and creating less congested roads at drop off and pick up points where there are more vulnerable road users present.

The educational setting-led scheme offers flexibility so you can meet your individual needs.

You will be provided with a free resources pack to help you run the Pledge in your setting and support you whilst you set up and deliver this intervention. This is also a great opportunity to support positive travel habits at High School and share with new intakes of parents and students who are attending a new school each September.
