School 2 School Support Service comes to an end

For Staff

Since 2019/20 we have commissioned School to School (S2S) as part of a range of services we offer to schools and early years settings to support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

During this period the service delivered over 1500 observations and recommendations to early years providers and mainstream schools to help them meet the children and young people's special educational needs. As a result, staff confidence in meeting needs increased from 46% to 78%.  As previously communicated, the local authority has been exploring a new partnership model and as a result, S2S ceased taking referrals in December 2024. During the spring term, S2S will complete all observation visits and send out any remaining recommendations reports to schools and settings.

We will now begin to offer strategic support from the Specialist Outreach Support (SOS) pilot - a new partnership model that aims to offer more support over longer periods of time. Alongside settings, the SOS approach will provide advice and training in a bespoke and flexible way to achieve the greatest impact for our children and young people with SEND. We plan to launch this new model more fully in summer 2025.

As the contract comes to its conclusion, we want to thank S2S for their valuable support and contribution to mainstream inclusion in Norfolk.
